Curse of the codec
When StreamtheWorld (STW) and LiquidCompass (and other broadcasters) use the AAC+ v2 codec it does not play on most Reciva radios. It is thought that the issue is to do with the way that the audio content is wrapped-up in the stream rather than the AAC+ content itself.
However, it is known that AAC+ v2 does play on Reciva devices with firmware version v265-d-254-a-269-a-195-a-007 and higher (new Grace and Avox models)
The codec also plays on the Reciva iPhone app.
For these reasons, stations using this codec are listed as having passed the Reciva stream test - but might not work on many radios.
Many commercial stations in the USA have adopted this streaming method and therefore cannot be played on your Reciva radio. Some stations have offered an alternative mp3 stream which will play. You are advised to contact the station and explain the problem and request an alternative stream.
There is no reliable information as to when and if Reciva will fix this problem for old radios or get it working for LiquidCompass.
